In the beginning, I never used to listen to music whilst training, however, now it's a completely different story.
Each time I go for runs, I always have music on and in the gym, I don't get a choice! Music is always pounding away from the gym speakers. So I wanted to ask everyone out there on their opinions on such.
Do you find it a distraction, motivation? Necessity or a down right no no?
i think listening to music whilst training can be very motivating indeed
ReplyDeleteI dont bother unless i have the earphones that go around my ear and keep them in place.
ReplyDeleteI never used to do it. But now more often.
ReplyDeletei like music, but i want my own, not the classic rock that always plays in the gym

ReplyDeleteI have music playing while running. It helps me keep my pace.
ReplyDeleteHaha, glad to see all these comments. A lot of mixed views. Gah, I found a video which related to this topic and now I can't find it! Youtube really needs to sort out their search engine. ;(

I always listen to music when training =)
ReplyDeleteAt the gym went to, the music was usually muffled and rubbish. I found bringing an MP3 player was a pain in the neck if on a cardio machine, as the earphone cable would flap about the place.
ReplyDeleteThen my girl got me some cheap bluetooth headphones at xmas that I could connect to my phone. I've never been without it when training for the last couple of years :)
Yeah i love it too :)
ReplyDeletethis works!
ReplyDeletepersonally when running i find that listening to music helps me control my breathing and strides i think it works
ReplyDeleteDepending on the type of music you listen to and the general feelings you get from it decides whether you benefit from it or not when training. For me I listen a lot metal, hardcore, rock bands and this will always, always pump me up giving a sense of greater energy.
ReplyDeleteIf you make routine enough for you and then change it up you will probably get a sense that your effort is not all there.
tl;dr listen to some heavy pump up music and stick to it haha
Music is a great tool, it gives you motivation to carry on and train harder I think :')
ReplyDeletePersonally I think it's a mix between your current vibe, what you music you have available and what work out you are in to determine if music is good.
ReplyDeleteXD I know I have had problems where I would spend more time looking for a song to get into than the actual work out itself.
Nice Post.
It depends on what im training, if I'm going for a run I'd grab my headphones, but if im doing some parkour definitely not heheh
